I'm actually a big fan of the Pantone color of the year, Marsala. It's a derivative of that oxblood color and if used in the right situation, I really really love it. I came across a home in Melbourne Australia, designed by David Hicks. This gorgeous pad displays a really good example of Marsala mixed with several shades of grey and even a pop of yellow. Totally into it. Especially in a contemporary situation. Mix in some antique styles and you are right up my vibe. Here's how I would mix:
I can't get over this tufted sofa in Marsala. I would totally start there. In this mix, I also think that burled wood is essential, why not try it with this octagonal mirror to add a touch of antique flair. You can also add some marsala with these velvet pillows if you don't want to go full on marsala sofa. Why not throw in a pair of grey studded ottomans to the mix? I also love this grey rug with a pop of yellow to offset the marsala. Small grey cocktail table would be such a nice addition. Throw some gorgeous flowers on it and bam.
Now here is the rest of the space...
